SPONSORSHIP REQUEST
Rotary is conducting a Motorcycle ride around
Australia throughout March and April 2015 to raise funds and awareness of
Malaria and its debilitating impact particularly on our close northern
neighbour, Papua New Guinea. In
developing countries Malaria accounts for a third of all deaths in infants and
the elderly and is the single biggest cause of lost time across the working
population in these emerging countries.
Rotary already has a successful Malaria
eradication program underway in conjunction with the Papua New Guinea Government
and the World Health Organization.
The Australian government is supporting the
project by granting tax deductibility to donations. We are seeking your support by taking up the offer in the form of a tax
deductable donation so that the Papuan Malaria eradication program can be expanded
to incorporate a new location.
Malaria is transmitted by
mosquito bite where a person infected with the Malaria parasite is bitten by a
particular type of mosquito which then bites a second person. As the parasite
that was left by the mosquito infects its’ human host the symptoms progress
from fever, headache, chills and vomiting to severe joint pain, dehydration,
organ failure and potentially death.
Malaria is preventable and
treatable. Control measures can
dramatically reduce infection rates.
Parts of Papua New Guinea have significant Malaria infestation rates.
The country is right on our doorstep and we have the chance to make a
difference while recognizing links to the 2015 centenary year of ANZAC.
Our ride will commence in Newcastle on the 2nd
March 2015, traveling north anti clockwise around Australia visiting over 40
towns and cities and includes 28 separate formal speaking engagements before arriving
back in Newcastle on the 25th April 2015.
Your Donation can be accepted by cheque, card (see below for details) or to increase your companies profile by contacting the Project
Manager Mr Steve Carroll on 0408 884 327 or Email stedor98@bigpond.com . Please commit a few
minutes to consider supporting this worthwhile endeavour and the difference
even a small donation can make.
Yours Faithfully,
